I joined Lev Gonick on Voices of Innovation, where Lev pushed me on something I genuinely love thinking about: where we are in the AI hype cycle versus where the real impact is going to land. He framed it as a moment where things are fragile enough, and fraying enough, that real change becomes possible, and asked me point blank, “if not now, when?”
We got into why I think AI is overhyped everywhere except education, where I’d argue we’re just getting going. Lev pulled the thread on the global opportunity too, pushing me on whether markets like India, China, and the Gulf are still as compelling as what’s happening here at home. We also got into some sobering numbers Lev raised, like the collapse in Americans who believe a college degree is worth it, dropping from 82% in 2011 to 33% today, and what that says about a system that needs to be rearchitected, not patched. Lev closed by asking what leadership looks like in this moment and what I think the moment demands most from leaders right now: courage.
