Jerry Seinfeld Commencement Speech: ‘The Uncomfortable Feeling of Awkward Humor Is Okay’ |
Humor often toes the line between what people are thinking and what they are afraid to say. Being politically correct isn’t funny, and cancel culture is the first ingredient to ending free speech. For a robust democracy, humor is vital. It’s important to remember that “Soup Nazis” aren’t real Nazis…and for entrepreneurs, being able to laugh in the face of what would make a normal person cry is key.
School Choice Advocate Corey DeAngelis on ‘The Parent Revolution’ | Foundation for Economic Education
Everybody knows that teacher unions are a powerful political force. What people are only now starting to realize is that they aren’t in business to help students thrive, rather they exist to support the adults that are supposed to teach our children. A formidable movement is afoot – let’s call it the “Student Union”, which is led by parents prepared to be fierce advocates for their childrens’ education. Watch out…Mama Bears in particular don’t mess around when it comes to their offspring. This is a force to be reckoned with.
A Guide To The GPT-4o ‘Omni’ Model |
GSV’s own AI maven Claire Zau provides a detailed breakdown of Open AI’s newest release and its implications for education. Claire says this is the closest thing we have to a "Her" moment - referencing Joaquin Phoenix’s 2013 rom/sci-fi cult film. The piece will help you better understand what GPT-4o can (and still can’t) do.
New ChatGPT Updates From OpenAI Will Benefit Educators | Forbes
“Cheaper, faster, better” has never had a more illustrative case study. The model is 2x faster, 50% cheaper, and has a 5x higher rate limit than GPT-4 Turbo. ASU+GSV Keynote Speaker and AI Whisperer to the stars, Ethan Mollick, had this to say about the advancement.

Genius Group Announces 2023 Financial Results, 150% Pro Forma Revenue Growth to $70.4 Million | GeniusGroup
In the AI Revolution, GeniusGroup is 1) providing the “battle plan” through OpenExO 2) training the “soldiers” with Genius Education, and 3) providing the ammunition through FatBrain. Mark Cuban said “There are those who are great at AI and everybody else. If you don't know AI, you are going to fail. Period.” (Full disclosure, I am non-executive Chairman and a shareholder of GNS. This is commentary, not investment advice).
Gen Z’s Wobbly Path To The Career Ladder | Axios
Anyone who has been to a restaurant lately has seen the common phenomenon of a line out the door but only half the tables are being utilized due to a lack of staff. Call it a Covid hangover, over-coddling, or Gerascophobia…NOT everybody’s workin’ for the weekend…or working at all. Unless UBI bails them out, today’s not-working 24-year-old will be tomorrow’s hard-working 84-year-old.
The Child Care System Is Broken. Here Are 5 Striking Statistics That Show Why. | USA Today
You can’t solve the K-12 problem until you solve the 0-5 problem. Nobel Laureate economist Jim Heckman showed that a dollar invested in early education produced seven dollars in benefit, and other studies have shown that 52% of poor children enter kindergarten unprepared…if you start from behind, the probability is that you’ll stay behind (or go away). A 2023 federal report showed that in some areas of the US, parents spent 75% of their income on infant care. Time for some strategic politicians to place their bets where the future is going to be created.
Google’s new LearnLM AI model focuses on education | The Verge
If you’re a builder in Edtech, your first reaction to this might be, “Oh sh*t. Big bad Google is at it again with the integrations and bundling to disrupt my dream.” In our view, being a jack of all trades but a master of none isn’t the path to the promised land. Yes, the giants have distribution, piles of money, and ways to advantage their platform. But, we think smarter wins here.
